Cable Placemats - Free Crochet Pattern

Okay friends, this is my final pattern for this holiday season! Check out these #CableStitch Placemats. They're a fun and quick project to spruce up your holiday table this year! I worked these ones up with a #sparkle / #metallic #yarn to amp up the holiday cheer! Work these up for yourself or make a set as a hostess gift!


If you're new to crochet cable stitches, do not worry! We have included a few step-by-step photos that walk you through the "tricky' parts, you'll be a pro in no time.

Materials:





Measurements:

Approx 20in wide by 14in tall.


Gauge:

Crochet Gauge: 13 sc and 14 rows with a 5 mm (U.S. H/8) crochet hook


Abbreviations:

Ch = Chain(s)

Cont = Continue

Dc = Double crochet

Sc = Single crochet

Hdc = Half double crochet

Sl st = Slip stitch

St(s) = Stitch(es)

Yoh = Yarn over hook

Dcbp = Yoh and draw up a loop around post of next stitch at back of work, inserting hook from right to left. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice.

Dcfp = Yoh and draw up a loop around post of next stitch at front of work, inserting hook from right to left. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice.

Dtrfp = (Yoh) 2 times and draw up a loop around post of indicated stitch at front of work, inserting hook from right to left. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times.

Ch 65.

Set up rows:

1st row: (RS). 1 Hdc in 3th ch from hook (counts as dc). 1 dc in next 6 ch, hdc in each each ch to last 9 ch, i dc in next 6 ch, 1 hdc in remaining 3 ch. Turn. (62)

2nd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. 1 dcbp around each of next 6 dc. 1 hdc in each of next sts to last 9 sts. dcbp around each of next 6 dc. 1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. Turn. (62)

3rd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each of next 3 dc. 1 dcfp around each of next 6 sts. 1 hdc in each hdc to the last 9 sts. Skip next 3 sts. (1 dtrfp around next st) 3 times. Working behind sts just worked, 1 dtrfp around each of 3 skipped sts. 1 hdc in each of next hdc to the last 9 sts. Skip next 3 sts. (1 dtrfp around next st) 3 times.1 hdc in each of last 3 hdc. Turn. (62)

4th row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. 1 dcbp around each of next 6 sts. 1 hdc in each hdc to the last 9 sts. dcbp around each of next 6 sts. 3 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. Turn. (62)




Begin pattern repeat:


1st row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. 1 dcfp around each of next 6 sts. 1 hdc in each hdc to the last 9 sts. dcfp around each of next 6 sts. 3 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. Turn.

2nd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. 1 dcbp around each of next 6 sts. 1 hdc in each hdc to the last 9 sts. 1 dcbp around each of next 6 sts. 1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. Turn.

3rd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each of next 3 dc. 1 dcfp around each of next 6 sts. 1 hdc in each hdc to the last 9 sts. Skip next 3 sts. (1 dtrfp around next st) 3 times. Working behind sts just worked, 1 dtrfp around each of 3 skipped sts. 1 hdc in each of next hdc to the last 9 sts. Skip next 3 sts. (1 dtrfp around next st) 3 times.1 hdc in each of last 3 hdc. Turn.

4th row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. 1 dcbp around each of next 6 sts. 1 hdc in each hdc to the last 9 sts. dcbp around each of next 6 sts. 3 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. Turn.


Repeat rows 1-4 until length measures 14in.


Bind off, weave in ends
