I rushed to get this one done because the ☀️ is here for the #summer!! This is made with #raffia and comes together in a day. Time to make something for yourself now... 🤗! My #Crochet #Floopy #Sun #Hat is fairly simple to make once you get used to working with raffia. I'll be honest, it took me a bit longer than expected to get comfortable with the paper texture and find a way to wrap it around my fingers easily. But stick with it, it's so worth every minute!
Materials:
3.5mm crochet hook
2 balls of Raffia (I used this "yarn" in natural)
Notes:
This hat is worked in the round starting from the top down and always in the back of each stitch.
Side note: Yashi is an unusual yarn which has lots of possibilities. It takes its inspiration from the Japanese art of paper folding, and has a durable, papery texture. Made of raffia and harvested from Raffia palm trees in Africa, this yarn will be ideal for making bags, hats, and home textiles.
Pattern:
Top:
Rnd 1: Start with a magic loop and working 7 SC in the in the middle. Join with a slip stitch.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 SC in each SC (14 sts)
Rnd 3: 2 SC st in each of the previous round's 2 SC, SC in every stitch otherwise. You will be increasing 7 sts every round.
Repeat Rnd 3 until the diameter is 22in. Should be around 84 sts/12 rows. Place stitch marker
Next: Work rounds in SC (no longer increasing) until body from stitch marker is 4in
Brim:
Rnd 1: *Work 2 SC in the front of the next st, then SC in next stitch (1 st made over 2 stitches)*, repeat around (126)
Rnd 2: SC around in back stitch
Rnd 3:*Work 2 SC in the back of the next st, then SC in next two stitches (1 st made over 3 stitches)*, repeat around (168)
Rnd 4-6: SC around in back stitch
Rnd 7-8: HDC in back of the next stitch, *ch 1, sk 1, HDC* repeat around
Rnd 8-9: SC around in back stitch
Rnd 10-11: HDC in back of the next stitch, *ch 1, sk 1, HDC* repeat around
Rnd 12: SC around in back stitch
Bind off, weave in ends.

I need help! I'm confused on Round 3 instructions. 2SC in previous rounds 2SC. SC in every other stitch. Isn't every stitch in previous round 2SC? Can you reword it for a simpleton like me? Thanks in advance!
i love the hat. Can I use a different kind of yarn, or would it change the look too much.
