Pastel Striped Baby Blanket

This #dainty, #textured blanket is the #perfect #gift for those soon-to-be bundles of joy. It’s a fairly #simple #pattern to follow and moves quickly once you recognize the repetitive pattern. I made two of these with for my friends’ twin girls and I differentiated them by changing the main color.

Skill Level: Easy

Abbreviations:

CH – chain

SC – single crochet

DC – double crochet

SL ST – slip stich

MC – Main Color

CC – Contrast Color

RS – Right side

WS – Wrong side

Size:

32x40in

Gauge:

9 sts = 2 inches; 3 sc rows and 2 dc rows = 2 inches

Materials:

· 2 skeins (191 yards) of MC

· 1 skein (191 yards) of each CC (4 skeins total). I used Lilac, Baby Blue, Yellow and Green

· Size G / 6 / 4mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Beginning chain-3 counts as first double crochet. Work over MC when not in use and pick up when needed.

Row 1 RS: With MC, CH 143, DC in 4th CH from hook and in each CH across, changing color to CC1 in last ST made, turn. Drop MC (141 DC)/

Row 2: CH 1, SL ST in first ST, [DC in next St, SL ST in next ST] across, turn. Fasten off CC1. Pick up MC. (71 SL ST, 70 DC)

Row 3: Working this row in back loops, CH 3, DC in each ST across, changing to CC2 in last ST made. Drop MC (141 DC).

Row 4: CH 1, SL ST in first ST, [DC in next ST, SL ST in next ST] across, turn. Fasten off CC2. Pick up MC. (71 SL STs, 70 DC)

Row 5-110: Working in color sequence of CC1. CC2, CC3, CC4, repeat rows 3 & 4 alternately.

Row 111: Working this row in back loops, CH 3, DC in each ST across, turn. (141 DC)

Rnd 112: Now working in rounds, CH1, SL ST in first ST, DC in next ST, [SL ST in next ST or in end of next row, DC in next ST or in end of next row] round with (SL ST, DC) in each corner, join with SL ST in beg SL ST. Tie off. Weave in ends.

I love the look of this blanket but I’m having trouble when I practice the stitch. The cc rows go in alternating directions which makes the stitch look different. Basically the puffy part of it alternates sides. Just trying to figure out what to do to fix this effect
