This is how you work it up: begin with an even numbered foundation chain then:
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next st, repeat (sc, dc) to end, ch 1, turn
Row 2: sc (in precious row dc), dc next st (in prev row sc), repeat (sc, dc) to end, ch1 turn
Repeat row 2 to desired length.
